Voices in the Ocean writer to make appearance at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, Friday, Dececmber 4, 2015 at 7pm
Octber 27, 2015 (Haiku, HI) – On Friday, December 4th, The Merwin Conservancy will welcome New York Times Best Selling author Susan Casey to speak at the next installment of The Green Room, an environmental and literary salon series on Maui. The event begins at 7:00pm in the McCoy Theater at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center, with doors opening at 6:30pm. Tickets are $35 per person (with a $10 student rate available with student I.D.) and are available at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Box Office, by calling 808-242-SHOW or purchasing online at http://www.mauiarts.org/events/susan-casey/. All ticket sales benefit local non-profit The Merwin Conservancy.
Susan Casey is popular science author with two bestsellers to her credit, one about great white sharks (The Devil’s Teeth), and another exploring rogue waves around the globe (The Wave). Her newest book, Voices in the Ocean, immerses the reader in salt water for a third time, studying the “wild and haunting world of dolphins”. Her captivating approach to writing enables the reader to join her in the fascinating and enlightening journeys that come to life with her gifted storytelling.
Of her writing style, The New York Times has said, “Casey writes lucidly, so the rest of us can come along for the ride.” Previously, she has served as the editor in chief of O Magazine, development editor of Time Inc; the editor in chief of Sports Illustrated Women, and an editor at large for Time Inc.’s magazine titles. From 1994–1999 she was the creative director of Outside magazine, where she was part of the editorial team that developed the stories behind the bestselling books Into Thin Air, and The Perfect Storm, as well as the movie Blue Crush.

Susan Casey will mesmerize The Green Room audience as she shares from her breathtaking journey with the dolphins while working on Voices in the Ocean.
